Deer Ridge is located in Northern Columbia
County in the Western part of the Berkshires, and offers easy
access to the best of both. If your interests are active and sporting,
there are abundant opportunities to golf, fish, swim, boat, play
tennis, bike and hike. Queechy Lake is a five minute drive and the
Taconic State Park is nearby.
The Berkshires offer a number
of great ski areas. Within half an hour you can be downhill skiing
at Jiminy Peak, Butternut or Catamount.
A one hour drive brings you to Southern Vermont, with such areas as Stratton, Bromley,
and Mt. Snow.
If you like cultural activities
your opportunities are just as diverse. There is classical music at
Tanglewood (twenty minutes away), and Tannery
Pond (five minutes).
Museums such as the Clark Institute,
the Norman Rockwell Museum (both within half an hour), and the historic
sites of the Mount, home
of Edith Wharton, and Olana, home
of Frederic Church, are all fascinating destinations. In addition,
there is dance at Jacob's Pillow, and opera at the Berkshire
Opera Company.
This is
just a sample and there is much, much more. The city of Hudson,
a 19th century whaling port of the Hudson River, is now home to
one of the finest collection of antique shops (over 60) in the
country and has a number of art galleries as well.
If you enjoy fine dining, there are
restaurants for every taste and budget. Enjoy the award winning
cuisine of Columbia
County or
the Berkshires. |
